Sad news, we have lost another great comic book professional. Dick Giordano passed away at the age of 77 due to complications from pneumonia. Action Comics #1 has reclaimed the title of most expensive comic book with the sale of a CGC 8.5 copy for $1,500,000 (US). This copy is currently the sole unrestored 8.5 copy in CGC’s census.

A CGC graded copy of Detective #27 (first appearance of Batman) just sold at auction for $1,075,000!!

I’m not sure that whoever bought it got a good deal. I think the Action #1 is rarer and more historically significant.

This probably shouldn’t be news to anyone who follows comic book news, but here it is: a CGC 8.0 (Very Fine) graded copy of Action #1 sold for one million dollars (US $1,000,000).
