Back when I worked at Heritage Comics Auctions, one day my superior Ed Jaster told me to write a market report for some kind of new price guide. I dutifully did as I was told, and turned in 250 words (or so) on the state of the market. When I asked Ed Jaster where it would be published, all he would tell me was “I don’t remember!”
As time went by, friends would occasionally mention that they had seen my name in a comic book price guide, but no one could ever remember the name of it.
Now, many years later, my friend Matt Nelson of Classics Incorporated found and gave me a copy of that guide for my 40th birthday! I turns out the book was Krause Publications’ “Standard Guide to Golden Age Comics”. Despite having not written a word of it, Ed Jaster shares the writing credit with me.
At least I now have a copy of the book I contributed to, after all these years. Thank you very much Matt Nelson! If you need comics pressed, Matt is the guy to go to. (As luck would have it, I designed his web site too: www.classicsincorporated.com).
