Meet Corliss Archer 1, 1948

Without a doubt, this is one of the headlight-iest headlight covers of the golden age of comics.

Despite what the 2001 Overstreet guide and Gerber's Photo-Journal would indicate, this is in fact the only issue of the series to feature stories and art by the legendary Al Feldstein. It was quite a coup to gain the license to this popular character, and the publisher Victor Fox wanted to have his star artist/writer Al Feldstein produce it. However Feldstein was pretty burned out from his run on Fox's Junior Comics and Sunny, and would only agree to do this one issue. But it's a great issue, and vintage comic fans like me are very happy Feldstein had the stamina to finish even this one issue of the series!
