Not many people have ever heard of the Fighting Yank, but this title had
some great covers by master cover artist Alex Schomburg. Schomburg's racist
wartime propaganda covers like this are very collectible! This one is notable
because not only does it have the normal wartime stereotypes of
bucktoothed, nearsighted, almost inhuman Japanese but it also has the
additional insult of the Emporer Hirohito himself tied to the imperial throne.
I lived in Japan and have many Japanese friends, and I can tell you that it
would be hard to come up with a more offensive and inflamatory image. I love it
because of the artwork and history, but I'd hesitate to show this comic to any
of my Japanese friends!
