Frontline Combat 8, 1952
I love this Harvey Kurtzman cover for it's dynamic composition, use of color, and elegant simplicity. Many comic art enthusiasts consider Kurtzman one of the top artistic talents ever to explore the comic medium. I don't necessarily agree with those fans 100%, but it's true that Kurtzman has a special talent that's easy to recognize.
One great thing about this comic is that the cover illustrates a brilliant story inside called "Thunder Jet!", by Alex Toth. It is one of only two or three stories Toth did for EC, and is considered to
be Toth's greatest work by many of his fans. The other stories in this issue are
"Caesar!" by Wally Wood, "Chickamauga!" by Jack Davis, and "Night Patrol!" by John Severin and Bill Elder.
