Pep 15, 1941

It's funny to think that a scant 7 issues after the publication of this comic, Pep Comics unleashed Archie upon the world! But in these pre-Archie issues patriotic super heroes like Hangman and The Shield are the main attraction. Most featured great artwork by Irv Novick. This cover is a winner - bondage, a knife weilding skull-faced girl, an evil fanged savage and a pointy-eared pinhead with a blowgun! What the heck is going on there?!?

Between the covers, a reader has a wide variety of features to enjoy. Here's a rundown of the characters leading in stories inside: The Shield and his sidekick Dusty, Danny in Wonderland (don't ask!), The Comet, The Fireball, Sergeant Boyle (Irish copper), Lee Sampson - Midshipman, Lucky Larson (a pilot), Kayo Ward (a boxer), Bentley of Scotland Yard (with Cooper art). Talk about variety!

P.S. I no longer own this comic, it was sold in March 2003 for $50.
